Hold onto your lip liners
Lip liner fans, rejoice! Nina Park, the celebrity MUA behind the faces of Zoe Kravitz and Sadie Sink, is launching a makeup brand.
According to trade title Beauty Independent, Park has trademarked her own name for cosmetics, makeup, brushes and accessories, which gives us an inkling of what she’ll include in the line.
The beauty market is pretty crowded, and whether it’s celebrity brands or celebrity makeup artist launches, it takes a lot to get excited about a new entry. But we’re excited about this one. Not many makeup artists can be credited with completely changing the way we approach making up our faces, but Nina Park’s approach to beauty extends far beyond the lip line. I would credit her with striking a happy medium between the overcooked YouTube-influenced era of hyper-contouring and the glass-skinned, no-makeup-makeup COVID-era “glass skin” approach to beauty. Park, along with artists like underpainting makeup-queen Mary Phillips, has developed a signature that is effortless but defined.

Over the last decade, we’ve seen the ubiquity of viral makeup trends fade, but the Nina Park lip technique has been a standout. Park, who is best known for her roll call of clients like Zoë Kravitz, Hailey Bieber, Sadie Sink, and Margaret Qualley, has become distinctive for her K-beauty-inspired lip-lining technique. The look features a blurred, overlined lip that is blended out across the cupid’s bow before tapering towards the edge of the natural lip. The technique contours and defines the lips, making them look significantly larger while still looking relatively natural (the technique is usually exercised with nude lip products).
It has even influenced the creation of a host of beauty products, from Rhode’s Peptide Lip Shape Contouring Lip Shaper to Merit’s Signature Lip Liner — both products that feature creamier formulas in a variety of nude shades perfect for blurring rather than sharply defining the lip line. Few makeup artists can take credit for reshaping how we approach our own makeup, but her signature, which is “natural” but still defined and glamorous enough for the red carpet (we’d love her to release a product that makes her signature tapered, smoked-out eyeliner a cinch) has become the go-to for girls wanting an effortless lip look.

What Will Be In Nina Park’s Beauty Line?
As mentioned, Park has trademarked her name for cosmetics, makeup brushes, and accessories, which gives us an indicator of what’s to come. But she’s also trademarked protection for a product named “Lip Shadow.” We don’t know exactly when Lip Shadow will hit shelves, but we know we’ll be ready and waiting when it does.
In the interim, Park herself favours Chanel Beauty Le Crayon Lèvres Lip Pencil in Nude Brun — so pick that up and refer to our complete guide to achieving the look.
