For a public appearance, Sreeleela wore a dual-colour lehenga set by Hyderabad-based designer Geethika Kanumilli. This look comes right in time for those seeking ideas for their festive looks. Despite its traditional design, the lehenga feels contemporary because of the colour palette and its placing.
The actor wore a voluminous skirt featuring panels of indigo and crimson. Two panels of each colour were placed side-by-side, and featured floral motifs in hand-done ajrakh embroidered with aari embroidery, sequins and beads, while the other panel featured chevron-like pattern made with beads and sequins. The lehenga set alternated between crimson and indigo, and was paired with an indigo blouse and a sheer red dupatta. The colour pairing can also be traced back to the craft itself, since indigo and red are traditional shades used in this block-printing technique from Gujarat and Rajasthan.Instagram.com/sreeleela14

Sreeleela wore the lehenga skirt with a traditional half-sleeve blouse, which brought back the neckline colloquially recognised as the ‘paan’ shape with embroidery on the sleeves and around the neckline. Keeping in line with the colour scheme, the actor completed the look with a sheer red dupatta with embroidered borders.
Stylist Kunal Mundhe accessorised Sreeleela’s look with statement pearl earrings and red and silver stacked bangles from Hyderabad-based jewellery label Shold Sherni.
The look, although maximalist, felt ethereal, which was translated to the makeup as well, featuring pink eyeshadow, pink lips and highlighted cheekbones, with a bindi to top it all off. The actor’s hair was parted in the centre and done in a braid, which added to the look’s traditional appeal.
From the Vogue desk:
“Sreeleela's red and navy blue lehenga feels nostalgic because of the color combo. This can be replicated in a completely contemporary silhouette as well. Invest in a pair of darky navy denim pants with gold embroidery and pair it with a dramatic red chiffon top. Wear it with golden chandbalis and strappy golden heels and you have a look that takes you through your upcoming evening soirées,” says Divya Balakrishnan, Vogue India associate fashion editor.
