San Francisco 49ers general manager John Lynch is doing his due diligence ahead of this year's NFL trade deadline.
“Just because the trade deadline is approaching, yes," Lynch said during a recent interview with KNBR. "That is our job to do that. To talk with our counterparts around the league. We’ve received calls and we make calls. Just to see where the market is at. The answer to that is yes.”
Lynch also added that veteran tight end George Kittle asked him about the possibility of pursuing Los Angeles Chargers pass rusher Khalil Mack.
Mack, a nine-time Pro Bowler, three-time first team All-Pro and one-time Defensive Player of the Year, has three sacks for the 0-5 Chargers so far this year.
Trade speculation has swirled around Mack amid the Chargers' terrible start to the 2026 season. However, the veteran linebacker addressed these rumors when speaking to reporters on Thursday.
"I'm focused on this team and what I'm doing right now," Mack said. "I feel like the outside noise is the outside noise."
