Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) – Iraq’s General Authority of Customs has announced a revenue increase of over $72 million in September 2026 compared to the same month in 2025.
The authority said in a statement that total customs revenues rose from $222.8 million in September 2025 to $294.8 million in September 2026—a growth rate of approximately 32.34 percent.
The rise reflects the importance of developing the customs operational system and enhancing the efficiency of revenue collection in accordance with applicable laws and regulations, according to the state-run Iraqi News Agency (INA).
The authority indicated that it is implementing a plan to enhance institutional performance, improve customs operational procedures, and increase the efficiency of revenue collection.
The measures are designed to protect public funds, strengthen the state’s financial resources, support financial reform, and promote the growth of non-oil revenues.
In January, head of the authority’s valuation department, Ahmed al-Akeedi, said that the deployment of the ASYCUDA system and the new customs tariff will improve earnings.
Al-Akeedi said that Iraqi customs revenues reached $1.9 billion in 2025, an unprecedented milestone in Iraqi customs history and an exceptional achievement.
Revenues are predicted to grow by at least four to six times with the application of the ASYCUDA system and complete compliance with customs rates, perhaps exceeding $7.63 billion by the end of 2026, according to al-Akeedi.
