Police Commemoration Day: ₹50,000 aid to 9 martyrs’ families from Nellore district

On Police Commemoration Day, tributes were paid to martyrs amid a heavy downpour at the Nellore Police Parade Grounds on Wednesday. Cheques of ₹50,000 each were given to the families of nine police personnel from the district who lost their lives in the line of duty in 2026.

Addressing the police officials, Nellore district Collector Himanshu Shukla said that the sacrifices of police martyrs – who laid down their lives while upholding the primary objective of maintaining law and order and protecting the lives and property of the people – will remain etched in the nation’s history forever.

“While wearing the uniform is a responsibility, ensuring the safety of the public is a sacred duty. The sacrifices made by the martyrs serve as a constant reminder to police personnel of the importance of dedication, courage, discipline, and commitment,” Nellore district SP Ajitha Vejendla said.
