The Nigeria Energy Sector Fund, managed by SCM Capital Asset Management Limited, has reported a 25 percent increase in profit

The Nigeria Energy Sector Fund, managed by SCM Capital Asset Management Limited, has reported a 25 percent increase in profit to N381 million for the financial year ended March 31, 2025, supported by higher trading income, interest earnings and dividend receipts from underlying investments.
The fund also approved a distribution of N383 per unit to eligible unitholders, according to a corporate actions announcement filed by SCM Capital Asset Management Limited.
The revenue performance grew by 30.89 percent to N444.58 million from N339.66 million recorded in the previous financial year, reflecting improved earnings from the fund’s investments in oil and gas equities and fixed-income instruments, alongside disciplined cost management.
Trading income remained the largest revenue contributor, rising to N274.28 million from N213.45 million in the 2024 financial year, while interest income from call placements, treasury bills and bonds amounted to N144.57 million.
Dividend income from underlying equity investments also increased to N25.73 million from N14.61 million, indicating stronger payouts from companies held in the fund’s portfolio.
The performance highlights the fund’s exposure to multiple income streams, combining trading gains from equity investments with interest earnings from fixed-income securities and dividends from portfolio companies.
The distribution approval provides an additional return for eligible investors following the fund’s reported revenue growth. However, the announcement did not disclose the total amount payable to unitholders or the fund’s outstanding units.

According to the corporate actions notice dated October 6, 2026, the distribution will be paid electronically on October 21, 2026, to unitholders whose names appear on the register of members as at the close of business on October 16, 2026, provided they have completed the required e-dividend registration process.
The register of unitholders is scheduled to close on October 19, 2026. Investors who have not completed their e-dividend registration were advised to obtain the mandate form from Pace Registrars Limited, the fund’s registrar, and submit it to the registrar or their respective banks.
The distribution relates to the fund’s financial year ended March 31, 2025, according to the announcement.
SCM Capital Asset Management Limited manages the fund, while Pace Registrars Limited is responsible for maintaining the register and facilitating payments to eligible investors.
The fund’s performance comes as investors assess the income-generating capacity of equity and fixed-income investments amid changing market conditions. Its latest revenue figures show that trading income accounted for the largest share of earnings, while interest and dividend income provided additional sources of returns.
