The call was made in the early evening hours of April 7, 2022, by Scheible’s roommate, moments after she was shot in the head, allegedly at the hands of her estranged boyfriend.
The emergency call by Alec McLennan was played in Calgary Court of King’s Bench, shortly after Crown prosecutor James Thomas gave his opening address, alleging Gerald Russell Frommelt intentionally shot Scheible in the forehead during an argument inside her northeast Calgary residence.

Frommelt, 32, is charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of Scheible, 23.
In the emergency call, McLennan told operators he was working outside their Templeview Drive N.E. residence when he heard a loud bang.
He rushed inside to find Scheible, alone, with a bullet wound to her head, he said on the 911 call.
McLennan said Scheible required an ambulance but was told police would have to clear the scene before one could attend.
“My friend’s girlfriend was shot,” McLennan could be heard on the recording, played for Justice David Labrenz by co-prosecutor Isabelle Lam.
“My friend’s girlfriend has a bullet hole in her head, but she’s alive right now.”
In the 7:11 p.m. call McLennan said he was working on his motorcycle outside the residence when he heard a loud bang.
When he rushed inside he found a bleeding Scheible alone.
“When did this happen?” the operator asked.
“I don’t know, I just heard the bang,” the roommate said, as Scheible’s loud moans could be heard in the background.
The recording left some of the victim’s supporters wiping away tears, while others buried their heads in their hands.
McLennan said Scheible was unconscious, but breathing at the time.
“C’mon, Jamie! No, no, no, no, no,” he could be heard on the recording.
“I’m not gonna let her die.”
In his opening statement, Thomas told Labrenz that Frommelt and Scheible had been dating leading up to the events which led to her death.
But he said the relationship had broken down by the month of April 2022.
“Mr. Frommelt wanted Jamie out of his life,” Thomas said.
“There was significant tension between Frommelt and Jamie. In the back and forth Mr. Frommelt had several times threatened Jamie with physical harm.”
On the day of her death Scheible had texted Frommelt asking him to come to the home and take a friend of theirs out to commit shoplifting.
Thomas said Frommelt went to the home around 6 p.m. where they got into an argument.
“Mr. Frommelt carried a loaded, 9mm handgun with him,” the prosecutor said.
“Mr. Frommelt became so angry that he pulled that ready handgun and pointed it at Jamie’s head. He was angry enough that he pulled the trigger.”
Thomas said the bullet entered Scheible’s forehead and exited the back of her head.
“The damage caused by the projectile that Mr. Frommelt fired through Jamie’s head … was catastrophic.”
The trial of Frommelt, who remains in custody, is scheduled for two weeks.
