LX Pantos is pushing ahead with technology-driven logistics innovation built around robotic transformation (RX) and artificial intelligence transformation (AX) through its new testing facility, the TDL Lab. The company aims to shift what has been a labor-intensive industry onto a technology foundation and lead the development of next-generation intelligent logistics centers.
LX Pantos said on the 14th that it recently opened the TDL Lab at its Megawise Cheongna logistics center in Incheon. TDL is the company's technology-based logistics operating system for providing customized services to clients. The TDL Lab, built to link that system to the field, serves as a base for researching and demonstrating innovative technologies. There, the company verifies how mature technologies such as robotics and AI are and designs ways to optimize operations before adopting them in actual business.
The TDL Lab is run jointly by LX Pantos and partner companies spanning both hardware and software. The aim is to build a "TDL Alliance" with multiple technology firms to identify and verify promising advanced technologies early and create a virtuous cycle that brings them into the field. Since April, the company has signed TDL cooperation memorandums of understanding with seven firms at home and abroad, including LG CNS, Hai Robotics and Libiao Robotics.

LX Pantos is pursuing a TDL strategy that uses robotics and AI to transform how logistics centers operate. It has selected five core technologies — mobile robots, robotic arms, next-generation mobility, AI and digital twins — and is using them to speed up unmanned, intelligent and automated operations at its logistics centers. The company plans to strengthen its competitiveness by carrying out a phased upgrade roadmap that moves from human-robot collaborative logistics centers to fully unmanned centers and then to intelligent centers within the next several years.
"TDL is not simply about installing automation equipment," said Eo Jae-hyuk, executive vice president at LX Pantos. "It is about organically and efficiently combining advanced technologies such as robotics and AI across the entire operation of a logistics center and upgrading it to fit each customer. Through cooperation with a range of technology companies, we will demonstrate promising automation and intelligence solutions and build a future-oriented logistics center operating model step by step."
