The 28 Days director, who was originally meant to helm No Time To Die but left due to creative differences, revealed last month that he thinks the 36-year-old actor would be the perfect 007.
"They should cast Jack O’Connell as Bond," Boyle said when asked who should succeed Daniel Craig as the famous spy at the Zurich Film Festival.

Speaking to The Standard at the London Film Festival premiere of new Ink, which stars O’Connell, the director went into more detail as to why he thinks the actor would be well-suited to the role.
“Well, look at him. I mean, he's pretty gorgeous, but he doesn't look like some model. And he's charming,” he elaborated.
“He plays darkness in a way that doesn't repel you. He can play real darkness and yet lure you there with him. And we all love that tantalising feeling.”
“So anyway. I mean, he's not gonna be Bond, obviously, but that's why I love working with him.”

The iconic spy series, which is now being produced by Amazon Studios, has recently casted the next star of the beloved franchise, though who will play 007 has not yet been revealed.
Last month, Peaky Blinders creator Steven Knight, who is writing the next movie, revealed that the titular character had been cast and suggested that he has been writing with one particular famous face in mind.
O'Connell's odds of playing Bond have been steadily narrowing recently, now sitting at 8/1 as of last month.
Other frontrunners to play the titular spy include Callum Turner, Jack Barton and Jack Lowden, with the latter currently leading the race.
