A 45-year-old public school teacher was arrested, and nearly half a million pesos’ worth of suspected shabu was confiscated during an evening buy-bust operation in Barangay Poblacion on Thursday, Oct. 22.
The suspect, identified by authorities only by the alias Jesly, was caught in an operation conducted around 10:45 p.m. at Purok 8 by joint forces of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Davao de Oro, the Davao de Oro Police Provincial Office, and the Compostela Municipal Police Station.
According to PDEA XI, the suspect was collared after selling a heat-sealed transparent sachet containing suspected shabu worth ₱ 7,000 to an undercover agent acting as a poseur-buyer.
A subsequent search yielded five additional heat-sealed plastic sachets containing approximately 73 grams of suspected shabu, with an estimated standard drug value of ₱496, 400.
Operatives also recovered the marked buy-bust money at the scene.
The suspect is currently in custody and faces criminal charges for violating Republic Act No. 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
PDEA XI regional director Atty. Benjamin G. Gaspi reiterated that law enforcement will not grant leniency to public servants involved in illegal drug activities.
“The agency remains steadfast in its commitment to intensify anti-drug operations and hold accountable those involved in the illegal drug trade, regardless of their profession or social standing,” Gaspi said, urging citizens to remain vigilant and report illicit drug activities in their communities.
