Fulham claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory over Coventry City in the Premier League on Saturday after Oscar Bobb scored an 80th-minute winner at the Coventry Building Society Arena.
The Norwegian winger produced a moment of individual brilliance to settle a closely contested encounter, giving Fulham their second consecutive league win under manager Álvaro Arbeloa. The result lifted the Cottagers to 12th in the table, while Coventry remained 19th.
With both sides struggling to create clear-cut chances, Bobb broke the deadlock 10 minutes from time after receiving a pass from Joshua King.
The former Manchester City player took on Coventry defenders Jay Dasilva and Jack Rudoni, using quick footwork to beat both opponents before driving a low effort into the bottom-left corner.
It was Bobb’s first league goal of the season and a decisive contribution in a match that had threatened to end goalless.
Fulham dominated possession during the first half but struggled to translate their control into goals, while Coventry looked dangerous on the counterattack.
The hosts had opportunities to take the lead, with Brandon Thomas-Asante threatening twice in the opening half. Fulham goalkeeper Bernd Leno also had to remain alert as Coventry increased their pressure after the break.
In the 71st minute, Coventry came close when a corner was headed down into the path of Ephron Mason-Clark, but Leno rushed out to block his effort.
Fulham eventually made their superior possession count through Bobb’s late intervention and defended their advantage during the closing stages.
Coventry attempted to find an equaliser, with Matt Grimes firing wide after Leno punched away a free-kick. The hosts also appealed for a late penalty following a ball into the box, but their protests were unsuccessful.
Fulham held on through five minutes of added time to secure all three points and build momentum after their previous victory over Hull City.
For Coventry manager Frank Lampard, the defeat extended the pressure on his side as they continued their struggle near the bottom of the Premier League table.
Fulham will look to build on their back-to-back victories as they seek to climb further away from the relegation zone, while Coventry must find a response to prevent their difficult start to the campaign from worsening.
