Damang Gold Mine Ltd, under its new owners, Engineers and Planners, extracted approximately 12.1 million tonnes of material between April and September 2026, with fresh material from active mining operations accounting for 60% of the feed to its processing plant, the mine’s Manager in charge of Mining, Frank Dankyi Agyei, has said.
Speaking on a special edition of Asempa FM’s Ekosiisen programme in Tarkwa on Thursday, October 22, he said the production figures reflected the mine’s efforts to increase output since it officially commenced operations on April 19, 2026.
Mr Agyei said the mine extracted 647,821 tonnes of material by the end of April, followed by 1.4 million tonnes in May and 1.6 million tonnes in June. Production rose to two million tonnes in July and peaked at 3.45 million tonnes in August, before the mine extracted three million tonnes in September.
The figures amount to 12,097,821 tonnes over the six-month period, based on the production estimates provided for May to September and the exact April figure.
Mr Agyei said the mine remained committed to improving production and was not relying solely on existing stockpiles to sustain its operations.
“This demonstrates that we are not relenting in our efforts to improve production,” he said.
He explained that stockpiled material accounts for approximately 40% of the feed to the processing plant, while the remaining 60% comprises fresh material mined from the pits and transported to the plant for processing.
The breakdown, he said, showed that fresh material from ongoing mining activities made up the larger share of the plant’s feed, alongside previously mined and stockpiled material.
