Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz are returning for a fourth installment of The Mummy franchise, which has been given the official title The Mummy: The Book of the Dead.
Universal Pictures announced the title on Instagram with the caption, “In one year, The Mummy: Book of the Dead opens. In theaters October 15, 2027.”
Brendan Fraser and Rachel Weisz reprise their roles as Rick and Evie O’Connell alongside John Hannah, Michael Johnston, Numan Acar, Kevin J. O’Connor, and Oded Fehr, though plot details remain under wraps ahead of Universal's theatrical release on October 15, 2027.
Directing duo Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Gillett, who call themselves Radio Silence, are helming the fourth Mummy chapter from a screenplay by David Coggeshall (The Family Plan, Orphan: First Kill). They are known for Ready or Not and the 2022 Scream revival.
Sean Daniel, who worked on the franchise’s previous five films – including the 2017 Tom Cruise reboot that derailed Universal’s interconnected Dark Universe ambitions after a critical and commercial failure – will return to produce the fourquel.
Project X Entertainment’s William Sherak, James Vanderbilt, and Paul Neinstein will produce alongside Clayton Townsend, with Fraser and Hivemind’s Jason F. Brown serving as executive producers.
