Milwaukee Delivers Late Inning Knockout
The Milwaukee Brewers moved one win away from the World Series on Wednesday night, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 6-2 in Game 3 of the National League Championship Series at Dodger Stadium.
Milwaukee used timely home runs and another strong pitching performance to take a commanding 3-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. The victory puts the Brewers on the verge of their first World Series appearance since 1982, while the defending champion Dodgers now face elimination.
Chourio Gives Brewers Early Lead
Milwaukee wasted little time making its presence felt. Jackson Chourio opened the game with a leadoff home run against Dodgers starter Blake Snell, giving the Brewers an early 1-0 advantage.
That lead held through the first five innings thanks to an impressive performance from rookie left-hander Robert Gasser. The young pitcher allowed just three hits across five scoreless innings, keeping Los Angeles’ dangerous lineup off the scoreboard.
Gasser’s outing gave Milwaukee’s offense time to build momentum and put pressure on the Dodgers, who entered the game needing a victory to get back into the series.
Dodgers Briefly Take Control
Los Angeles finally broke through in the sixth inning. Will Smith delivered a two-run double that brought home Kyle Tucker and Teoscar Hernández, giving the Dodgers a 2-1 lead and briefly energizing the home crowd.
However, Milwaukee responded immediately in the following inning.
Jake Bauers launched a two-run home run to put the Brewers back in front, and Garrett Mitchell followed with a solo shot. The back-to-back homers transformed a one-run deficit into a 4-2 Milwaukee advantage and silenced the Dodger Stadium crowd.
The Brewers added another run in the eighth inning when Brice Turang scored on a wild pitch, extending the lead to 5-2.
Milwaukee added one more run in the ninth to complete the scoring and secure the four-run victory.
Brewers’ Pitching Continues to Deliver
While the home runs grabbed the headlines, Milwaukee’s pitching was equally important.
Gasser set the tone early, and the bullpen handled the remaining innings to protect the lead. The Dodgers finished with just five hits, struggling to generate consistent offense against the Brewers’ pitching staff.
Shohei Ohtani also continued to have a difficult postseason at the plate, adding to Los Angeles’ offensive concerns.
Dodgers Face Elimination
The victory gives Milwaukee a 3-0 series advantage, leaving Los Angeles with no margin for error.
The Brewers have received contributions from their pitching staff and lineup throughout the series, while the Dodgers have struggled to find the consistency needed to defend their championship.
Milwaukee now needs just one more victory to reach the World Series. Los Angeles must win four straight games to keep its season alive.
After another impressive performance, the Brewers are firmly in control of the NLCS and closing in on a historic opportunity.
