Florida State turned to someone who knows exactly what it feels like to beat Miami to set the tone for Saturday night. Ahead of its rivalry matchup with the No. 3 Hurricanes, FSU released a hype video narrated by former Seminoles quarterback Jordan Travis, an especially fitting choice considering his place in the history of the series.
“There are rivalries in college football, and then there’s Florida State and Miami,” Travis says to open the video. “I know what it feels like to stand on that field in garnet and gold. It’s more than football. It’s pride. It’s history. Bragging rights forever.” Few recent Florida State players can speak to that rivalry with more authority.
Travis finished 3-0 as FSU’s starting quarterback against Miami, helping the Seminoles win three consecutive meetings from 2021-23. His final appearance against the Hurricanes came in Florida State’s 27-20 victory in 2023, when he completed 19 of 31 passes for 265 yards and a touchdown as the No. 4 Seminoles improved to 10-0.

That victory also put Travis in a category of his own as he became the first Seminoles quarterback to start in three consecutive victories over Miami. It also remains Florida State’s most recent victory in the rivalry, adding another layer to his involvement in this year’s video.
“When Florida State and Miami meet, everything gets louder,” Travis says. “The hits are harder. The moments feel bigger. Because you’re not just playing for the guys beside you. You’re playing for every Seminole to ever wear that uniform. Every fan who’s screamed for this team.”
The message arrives as the current Seminoles face a significant challenge. Florida State enters Saturday at 3-3 overall and 1-2 in ACC play, while Miami is 5-0, 3-0 in conference play. The Hurricanes won last season’s meeting 28-22 in Tallahassee.
Records have rarely told the entire story in a rivalry that has produced generations of memorable finishes. Seventeen of the last 25 meetings have been decided by eight points or fewer. Travis closed the video with a message that captured why Florida State chose him to deliver it.
“You better be ready,” Travis said. “Because this is Florida State. It doesn’t get any bigger than this. This is the rivalry.”
