Adjusting to a new system always takes work, but Mitchell Robinson is fully leaning into the challenge with the Boston Celtics. The physical center arrived in Boston this offseason ready to anchor the interior defense, and head coach Joe Mazzulla is making sure he stays locked in every single day.
When asked about his early interactions with Mazzulla during training camp, Robinson delivered a hilariously candid response regarding the head coach’s non-stop accountability.
“He’s getting on my as* a lot,” Robinson said. “Which, you know, I need that. But he gets on my a*s.”

Rather than backing down, the former New York Knicks big man welcomes the tough love. Mazzulla holds his roster to championship standards, demanding sharp defensive communication and relentless hustle on every single possession. For Robinson, that direct feedback keeps his edge sharp as he continues building chemistry with his new teammates.
That relentless mindset was on full display when the Boston Celtics hosted the Charlotte Hornets at TD Garden on Wednesday night. Boston controlled the floor from the opening tip, cruising to an emphatic 114-93 victory in preseason action.
Robinson made every minute count on the hardwood. In just 17 minutes of action, the seven-footer produced 12 points and 7 rebounds while shooting a perfect 5-for-5 from the field. His physical interior presence set the tone early, helping Boston outscore Charlotte 56-20 in the paint while forcing 29 total turnovers.
Jayson Tatum set the pace for the starting unit with 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists, while Derrick White added 17 points and 4 steals. Neemias Queta chipped in 16 points off the bench, highlighting the terrifying frontcourt depth Mazzulla now commands.
With Robinson fully buying into Mazzulla’s hard-nosed coaching style, Boston looks as dangerous as ever. If this preseason dominance is any indication, the partnership between coach and center will pay massive dividends when the real games begin.
