Tiger Woods has not played an official PGA Tour event since the 2024 Open Championship, as a string of injuries and surgeries, followed by a DUI arrest in March, has kept him off the course. But it sounds like the 15-time major champion could be getting close to a return.
According to one of his former TGL teammates, Woods wants to play a full TGL schedule with Jupiter Links in 2027, and could even be gearing up for a run at the Masters. And that news came out as that teammate revealed he’s been left off the team’s roster.
Injuries And An Arrest
Woods tore his Achilles in the spring of 2025, then underwent lumbar disc replacement surgery that October, his latest in a long line of back procedures. He finally made his competitive return in TGL in March 2026.
But days later, Woods’ Land Rover clipped a truck and rolled onto its side on Jupiter Island, near his Florida home, in March. Neither Woods nor the other driver was hurt. Woods passed a breathalyzer test but refused a urine test, and deputies found two hydrocodone pills on him at the scene.
Woods was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence and later left the country for inpatient treatment.
In September, Woods agreed to a plea deal that reduced the charge to reckless driving and dropped the DUI charge. As part of the deal, a judge suspended his driver’s license for five years.
‘Tiger Wants To Play’
Kevin Kisner, who played alongside Woods on Jupiter Links, revealed on Barstool’s Fore Play podcast that he won’t be back with the team. And the reason is that Woods is ready to play more.
“Obviously, I’m not on the team anymore,” Kisner said on the latest episode. “I had a two-year contract with Jupiter Links. … Tiger wants to play and then they wanted to sign Keith Mitchell, which is totally fine with me. It gives me a chance to hang out in January and February instead of flying back and forth to Palm Beach every Monday.”
Kisner said that he got the news in a text from Rob McNamara, Woods’ longtime friend and business partner.
“[Rob] texted me a long text last week, I think. Just telling me what they did on their decisions, how they were moving around and what players were going to do and that Tiger wanted to play a full schedule,” Kisner said.
Kisner also expects Woods to tee it up at the Hero World Challenge, which benefits Woods’ TGR Foundation, and the PNC Championship, where Woods has teamed up with his son, Charlie, in the past. If all goes well, Kisner even sees him making it back to Augusta National.
“The way he was swinging and moving on the range, I mean, the guy loves to compete,” Kisner said. “Come back, get your feet wet at the Hero, play with Charlie in the father-son, play some TGL [and] get ready for Augusta.”
Obviously, a lot would have to go right for Woods to make it back to the Masters. But it sounds like those closest to him believe he’s ready to try.
