Yinka Quadri, a veteran Yoruba actor, has hailed President Bola Tinubu for his “longstanding support of Nollywood practitioners,” describing Tinubu as a “leader who has consistently attended to the needs of the film industry.”
Quadri, in an interview with African A List, recalled that when Tinubu was governor of Lagos State, he helped actors dealing with health issues.
“Asiwaju Bola Tinubu has been taking care of Nollywood actors since he was the governor of Lagos State. When Baba Suwe was sick, Asiwaju settled all the hospital bills in Lagos and abroad,” he said.
“When Moji Olaiya passed away and we wanted to bring her body to Nigeria, we approached him to give us $15,000, but he gave us $25,000. He always attended to our needs.”
Quadri also credited the Tinubu administration with infrastructure and welfare initiatives, including road projects in the South-West, “prompt” pension payments and the establishment of student loans.
“He has fixed some major roads in the South-West. Even though it is not enough, if past presidents had been doing this, Nigeria would have been better,” he said.
“He pays pensioners their money on time and he has established school loans. If we give him another chance, he will do more.”
