St. Pius at Valencia, 6 p.m.
The Sartans are coming off a big win against No. 5 Belen and looking to keep momentum heading into the final week of the regular season. But eighth-ranked Valencia is looking to capitalize on their big win at Albuquerque Academy — sidenote: St. Pius’ main rival — and No. 2 St. Pius is in the way.
Hope Christian at Hot Springs, Thursday at 7 p.m.
Hot Springs may be moving up the rankings soon. The No. 8 team in Class 3A defeated NMMI on Friday. Their opponent, Hope Christian is currently ranked third — and that may be low — but don’t play until Saturday night. Is a short week enough to give the Tigers an advantage?
Centennial at Eldorado, Wilson, 7 p.m.
No. 7 Eldorado continues to win in dramatic fashion — including a lightning delay that lead to a one-point win over Las Cruces and Friday’s bounce back from two first-half interceptions to beat Clovis — but they are in for another test with No. 6 Centennial coming to town. Both teams are battle-tested and fighting for playoff positioning.
Los Lunas at Cibola, Community, 7 p.m.
The Tigers’ four-game winning streak, which included three shutout performances from the Los Lunas defense, was snapped on Friday by Piedra Vista. They’ll be looking to close the season strong against Cibola as the regular season wraps. The Cougars, who are coming off a win over Highland, are in tenth and looking for another statement win.
Volcano Vista at Organ Mountain, Field of Dreams, 7 p.m.
Organ Mountain has struggled this season, to be sure, but Volcano Vista is surging at just the right time. So despite the fact that the Knights are coming off a 56-7, mercy rule blowout at the hands of Carlsbad, the No. 2 Hawks put on a show behind star quarterback Jude Herrera.
