The Kogi State Police Command has intercepted a vehicle conveying 400 wraps of substances suspected to be Indian hemp in the Magongo area of Ogori-Magongo Local Government Area of the state.
The command’s spokesperson, ASP Salisu Oyiza Afusat, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday, saying the interception was carried out by operatives attached to the Akpafa Division during a routine stop-and-search operation.

“Preliminary investigations revealed that the suspect was involved in the sale and distribution of Indian hemp. He further stated that the consignment was supplied to him by an individual identified by the alias ‘Biggy’ in Edo State and was intended for delivery to buyers in Abuja.
“The suspect valued the consignment at N3.2m,” Afusat said.
According to the police spokesperson, the suspect and the recovered exhibits had been handed over to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency for further investigation and necessary action.
She added that efforts were ongoing to identify and apprehend the individual known as “Biggy” and other persons connected to the consignment, including its intended recipients, to unravel the entire supply chain.
The Commissioner of Police, Kogi State Command, CP Naziru Bello Kankarofi, commended the operatives for their vigilance and reiterated the command’s commitment to intelligence-led policing, effective stop-and-search operations and collaboration with relevant agencies to combat the trafficking and distribution of illicit substances in the state.
