Kayla, the woman behind Afrocurl, who is from Mitchell's Plain and known on TikTok as @kaylakimkay, shared the emotional arrival footage on 23 October. The video took viewers through a stunning villa at night, revealing poolside areas, decorated bedrooms, and hallways lined with tropical plants.
Kayla and her sister had spent hours setting up the experience, curating branded PR gift boxes placed on each bed. The brand trip has resonated deeply with South African audiences, who rarely see homegrown brands deliver this level of customer appreciation. Kayla noted that she and her collaborator Deirdre handled much of the branding together, with a full villa tour promised for the following day.
The video by @kaylakimkay showed the customers stunned as they discovered their personalised rooms. One guest broke into tears at the sight of her name on the décor, while others screamed, laughed, and hugged one another in disbelief, saying:
"I'm in paradise. I don't care what you say."
What made the moment hit differently for viewers was the guest list itself. These were not influencers or celebrities flown in for brand exposure; they were actual customers. Afrocurl is the first to organise a customer-focused international brand trip in the country. Watch the luxury villa surprise unfold:
The video quickly gained traction, drawing reactions from everyday users and well-known figures alike. DJ Zinhle responded simply:
"This is insane 🤌🏾🔥"

"Why is this not on the local news like you did that! The only brands that fly people out with branded rooms are big American brands and here you are coloured girl from Mitchell's Plain look at God! 💐💐💐💐"
Zuko In Style said:
"This is everything a brand trip should be. It took a SA brand to show the international brands operating in SA the standard ❤️"
