Sat’s coming back.
It sounds like we haven’t heard the last of one of the most beloved voices from Sportsnet 650.
Satiar Shah is teasing his return on social media, noting that he’ll have “big news” to share on Tuesday. “You’re gonna find out really, really soon — tomorrow — some big news,” Shah said Monday via TikTok.
The news was met with a ton of well wishes from Vancouver Canucks fans on social media.
The longtime broadcaster has been out of work since July, when Sportsnet 650 was abruptly shut down. Shah’s news follows that of Mike Halford and Jason Brough, who moved their morning show to Daily Faceoff Vancouver in September. Another former Sportsnet host, Jamie Dodd, now co-hosts Rink Wide with Jeff Paterson.
While Shah has yet to make the big reveal, it certainly sounds like he’ll end up at Sick Media. The growing podcast network has also said it’ll be making an announcement on Tuesday.
“Vancouver’s prime time sports talk show is here,” Sick Media announced.
I have heard the new show will air daily on weekdays.
Sick Media has a number of sports podcasts, including some hockey-focused ones, but this will be the first show based in Vancouver.
Stay tuned for the official announcement on Tuesday morning.
Shah helped get Sportsnet 650 off the ground, leaving TSN 1040 for the new all-sports station in 2017. He went on to become one of the station’s most recognizable names, as both an afternoon drive co-host with Bik Nizzar and a fixture on Canucks radio broadcasts. He also regularly featured on Canucks television broadcasts on Sportsnet’s intermission panel, with Dan Murphy.
