With thousands of families having welcomed new arrivals during the UK’s busiest month for births, and more people travelling on holidays with newborns, easyJet and easyJet holidays are helping make that first family holiday even easier by covering the cost of newborn babies’ passports.
The cost of a child’s passport in the UK (£66.50) will be covered when parents book an easyJet holiday - a welcome boost for the 585,000 families welcoming a new baby each year in England and Wales. 75% of parents surveyed agree the move would make a holiday with a baby feel more affordable – according to a recent study by easyJet and easyJet holidays.
One family who will be taking to the skies with their newest addition, baby Evie, is Peppa Pig and her family, who are teaming up with the airline and tour operator to help parents prepare for travelling with young ones.
easyJet Captain Kate West, who is navigating a different type of flight path as a new parent, stars alongside Mummy Pig and the rest of the family in a brand-new digital short video on the Peppa Pig Muddy Puddle Parenting YouTube channel. With over a third (36%) of parents surveyed citing newborn passports as a major holiday hurdle, the video provides practical advice on taking a baby passport photo, alongside tips for holidaying with young children.
The initiative has launched following new research from the airline and tour operator which showed that while almost 4 in 5 parents surveyed (82%) said a baby’s first holiday was a landmark family moment and over half (57%) called it one of their proudest parenting milestones. easyJet and easyJet holidays are making these milestones possible, with almost half (47%) of parents saying that taking their children abroad makes them more curious about the world around them.
But before making those memories, parents said they needed an average of four attempts to get an approved passport photo for their baby, with almost a quarter (24%) needing up to six tries. Nearly one in 10 (9%) even admitted to not knowing their baby needed their own passport until they started planning a holiday.
With 48% saying the holiday was easier than they'd expected and 87% would confidently do it all again, it comes as no surprise that getaways with infants are officially on the rise. easyJet holidays has reported a 10% increase in infants travelling this year compared to 2025, even though the year is yet to come to an end. Meanwhile, the airline flew over 22,000 more infants across its network in 2026, with city break bookings seeing a notable boost in popularity for young families.
38% of parents surveyed said they want or plan to take a trip abroad as a family during their parental leave. Despite over a quarter (27%) believing adapting their routine would be a challenge, half of those who took their children abroad (50%) said their children were able to adapt to changes in routine well, settled quickly in unfamiliar environments (49%).
Travelling abroad also proved helpful in building confidence for parenthood. Over a third of parents surveyed (37%) said their first holiday with a baby felt like an exciting adventure and made them feel more comfortable taking their child or baby to new places (37%), while 32% said they felt closer as a family after.
Mummy Pig said:"Going on holiday with a baby can feel like a grand adventure before you've even left the house! But those shared moments - watching the little ones marvel at the clouds from their window seat and hearing Peppa, George and Evie giggle in the pool - are memories Daddy Pig and I will keep forever. Getting Evie's passport has opened up a whole new world of possibilities for our family of five."
easyJet Captain Kate West, said: “We carry millions of families across Europe every year, and we know that travelling with a baby brings a whole series of exciting firsts. We want to make travel as easy and accessible as possible for everyone, including young families, so they can enjoy all the experiences and memories that travel can bring. We hope that covering the cost of a baby’s first passport goes a small way towards making that first family adventure a little easier and gives our youngest travellers a warm welcome to the world.”
Stuart Wright, Customer Director at easyJet holidays, said: "Travel has a unique way of bringing families together, and a baby's very first holiday is often one of those moments parents remember for years to come. By covering the cost of a baby's first passport, we're helping more families start making those memories that little bit sooner. Combined with our great-value packages, family-friendly hotels and thousands of Free Kids Places, it's another way we're making family holidays easier and more affordable."
For many parents, package holidays provide the peace of mind they look for when travelling with a baby for the first time. Over three quarters (78%) agreed that package holidays take out the guesswork, and 64% said they make it easier to maintain routine while abroad.
Nearly half (47%) of parents surveyed say they prioritise baby-friendly facilities when booking package holidays, with hotel must-haves including a kids' pool (43%), an in-room fridge (39%), and a children’s menu (33%).
