APS unions reject the Commonwealth’s 3% annual pay offer, with the ASU pushing for an 8% rise for ATO staff through Fair Work.
The latest round of Australian Public Service bargaining negotiations has concluded, with major unions representing public servants reporting that they have unanimously expressed disappointment with the Commonwealth’s initial proposal of a below-inflation pay increase average of just 3% per annum over three years and some premium pushback over the one-size-fits-all pay offer.
As negotiations heat up over the government’s attempts to standardise the number of leave days and working hours across the APS that would, if successful, see some agency staff lose leave days and cop an effective pay-cut by extending the working day, the Australian Services Union has continued to push for a separate Fair Work Commission decision for Australian Taxation Office staff.
