A black triangular object reportedly hurtled through the sky at 1,800 mph near a sensitive US facility, according to newly released Pentagon records. Two experienced military observers described a silent craft that performed abrupt maneuvers before disappearing.
The Defense Department published 28 new records on October 23, bringing its UAP archive to 478 files across seven releases. The collection includes recent military encounters alongside historical reports of unexplained aerial objects. One account describes an unusual encounter that raises questions about the object’s flight characteristics and apparent lack of detectable heat.
Mysterious craft defied detection
According to a Defense Department memorandum, two senior military observers spotted the object earlier this year. The encounter occurred near a sensitive facility in the western United States, whose location remains redacted in the public document.
The witnesses described a matte-black craft resembling a delta-wing aircraft. They estimated its span at nine to 15 feet, with a depth of six feet and a thickness of roughly two feet. Its compact dimensions make the reported performance particularly striking.

The object’s movements were equally unusual. It reportedly climbed around 200 feet, shifted sideways, and then plunged downward before vanishing. The observers also reported that it produced no audible noise or visible exhaust trail.
Thermal equipment failed to register a heat signature, according to the document. The object displayed no conventional aircraft lighting either, leaving the witnesses without an obvious explanation for what they observed.
The Pentagon included a rendering of the triangular craft in the release. However, officials have not identified the object or established what technology might explain its reported flight characteristics.
The account is not the only triangular-object report in the collection. Three separate reports describe black triangles observed above sensitive military sites. The recurring shape adds another detail for researchers examining reports of unexplained objects near restricted locations.
Historical sightings join collection
The latest batch also includes records from earlier decades. A 1953 report describes a metallic, elliptical object spotted in Sweden. Another document recounts an unusual sighting in Saudi Arabia in 1957.
Other files cover reported flying saucer sightings around California’s Catalina Island. The collection also features declassified documents concerning alleged paranormal activity at Utah’s Skinwalker Ranch.
These accounts span different locations, periods, and reported phenomena. Their inclusion in the archive does not establish a shared explanation. However, the documents give researchers more historical material to examine when comparing witness accounts and identifying recurring descriptions.
Pentagon continues disclosure effort
The release follows President Donald Trump’s directive to disclose government records concerning unidentified aerial phenomena, UFOs, and potential extraterrestrial life. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth and other agency leaders are involved in the effort.
The Pentagon is preparing additional records for public release, although officials have not specified when the next batch will appear.
The triangular-object report leaves important questions unanswered, including the craft’s propulsion system and the source of its unusual flight behavior. Its reported movements and apparent lack of detectable heat make the encounter particularly difficult to explain using the information currently available.
The newly published documents offer no definitive explanation for the sighting or evidence confirming an extraterrestrial origin. They do, however, provide a detailed account of an encounter that investigators have yet to resolve.
