The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, has commended the mobilisation and solidarity demonstrated at the All Progressives Congress (APC) North Central campaign flag-off in Lafia, Nasarawa state, urging political actors to prioritise peaceful, issue-based campaigns ahead of the 2027 general elections.
According to a Sunday statement by Special Assistant to the Minister on media Rabiu Ibrahim, the minister said the rally provided an opportunity to communicate the Federal Government’s development priorities, including food security, infrastructure, economic stability and social inclusion, while stressing that political campaigns should focus on policies, performance and commitments to Nigerians rather than violence or confrontation.
“If you have something to sell, you don’t need to fight. We have something to sell to Nigeria, and that’s why we are holding this rally to show Nigerians what we stand for,” the Minister said.
In his remarks, the Minister of State for Agriculture and Food Security, Dr Aliyu S. Abdullahi, highlighted the importance of sustained attention to food security and improved transportation infrastructure in reducing the cost of moving agricultural produce to markets. He said, “Despite the challenges, you can see stability has been brought into our food system, and we are working very hard still on that.”
On her part, the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, said women, children and vulnerable populations remained important to the administration’s national development agenda, noting that government programmes were designed to address their needs.
“The President has given government a human face. Women are known, the vulnerable population, the children, everybody has been well placed in the matters of priority in the national agenda of Mr President,” she said.
The First Lady of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, reaffirmed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s commitment to national security, unity and prosperity, citing economic stabilisation and infrastructure development as areas highlighted by the administration. She urged Nigerians to support continuity, declaring, “Mr President is very serious about security, the unity of this nation and the prosperity of the people.”
The First Lady added, “So vote for continuity, vote for capacity, vote for prosperity, vote for the re-election of Mr President and all the candidates of APC all the way from top to bottom.”
