PETALING JAYA: A teacher at a tuition centre in Kuala Lumpur, who was arrested yesterday for alleged sexual assault against five students earlier this month, will be remanded for six days until Oct 21.
Kuala Lumpur police chief Fadil Marsus also confirmed today that the suspect, in his 40s, is a civil servant, and the victims are in their teens.
Yesterday, Fadil said police arrested the teacher after receiving five reports alleging that the assaults occurred at the suspect's house, which was being used as a tuition centre.
Police have taken statements from the students and their family members. Their school and the district education office are also assisting with the investigation.
The case is being investigated under Section 377C of the Penal Code for carnal intercourse against the order of nature, and Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for the physical sexual assault of a child.
