English Premier League champions Arsenal needed an 80th minute winner to seal a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest at the City Ground.
The Gunners went into the league fixture struggling for form despite doing enough to win matches, and it was a repeat with Noni Madueke’s late winner.
Oliver Glasner’s gritty side created more chances but were very sloppy in front of goal in the feisty encounter.
Kai Havertz had Arsenal two opportunities in the first half, both sailing wide, and it was similar for the home side despite carving Arsenal’s defence open multiple times.
The second half was more of the same as chances went begging for Forest, and they were punished by their expert visitors on 80 minutes. Noni Madueke was the goalscorer on 80 minutes, cutting onto his right and belting a shot that deflected into the net.
The Gunners claimed their sixth league win of the season, and remain in second place with 18 points from seven matches.
They are closely followed by Brighton who thrashed Crystal Palace 5-0 thanks to three goals within the first ten minutes of the encounter.
At Elland Road, Manchester United made it six matches without a win in all competitions for the first time in seven year following a 1-1 draw with Leeds United.
Bryan Mbeumo gave Michael Carrick’s team the lead but Dominic Calvert-Lewin slotted home the equalizer to ensure both sides shared the points.
RESULTS
Nottingham Forest 0-1 Arsenal
Leeds United 1-1 Manchester United
Bournemouth 2-0 Sunderland
Brighton & Hove Albion 5-0 Crystal Palace
