Packers' Micah Parsons update reveals bad news on odds to play in Week 6 vs. Cowboys originally appeared on The Sporting News. Add The Sporting News as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
The Green Bay Packers, despite winning in their Week 5 matchup over the Chicago Bears, lost Javon Hargrave for the rest of the regular season with a torn Achilles. It's the second Achilles injury in the last two weeks, with Edgerrin Cooper also done for the year.
Both of those key defenders will miss the remainder of 2026, and leave the Packers even more depleted on defense. But Micah Parsons should come back and provide a lot of help for this team, right?
Well, at least regarding Week 6 against the Dallas Cowboys, it's not looking good for Parsons. According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Parsons won't practice this week, and the latest update is only hope for an October return for Parsons.
Micah Parsons not likely to play in Packers vs. Cowboys matchup in Week 6
"Packers are not anticipating that their standout pass rusher Micah Parsons will return to practice this week as Green Bay prepares for Sunday night's game vs. the Dallas Cowboys, per sources," Schefter reports. "There still is uncertainty about exactly when Parsons will return from his knee injury, but the hope still remains it will be this month."
This update on Parsons is not the kind of report that any Packers fan will want to hear. One thing seems very clear in the middle of this update: Parsons will not be playing in Week 6.
It's not official just yet, but the signs are clearly pointing towards Parsons not returning to the Packers' defense until at least Week 7.
Rushing him back is not a good idea, so it's not a bad thing to be patient with someone so important to the team, especially this early in the season.

But, in the short term, it is looking likely that Green Bay will face a challenging Cowboys' offense without the former Cowboys superstar edge rusher.
Parsons is likely to be out for Week 6, as his knee injury is set to keep him out a few weeks past when he could've initially been activated this season.
The 3-2 Packers, after a big blowout Week 5 win over the Bears, will face a 2-3 Cowboys team that blew their Week 5 Thursday Night Football game to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
While there should be plenty of confidence in the Packers' ability to beat the Cowboys, it seems clear that Green Bay will, for at least one more week, be without Parsons.
