Union Minister Chirag Paswan on Saturday launched an attack on the Congress and Rahul Gandhi, claiming that the party would not return to power in 2029 or even in 2034. He accused the principal Opposition party of trying to create unrest in the country and questioned its approach to democracy. Paswan also announced that his Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) would contest the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, irrespective of whether it remains part of an alliance.
Speaking in Patna before leaving for Delhi, Paswan alleged that the Congress was attempting to create instability in the country while invoking democracy for political gains.
CHIRAG PASWAN ACCUSES CONGRESS OF TRYING TO CREATE UNREST
Targeting the Congress, Paswan said, “If the country's main Opposition party has this kind of thinking, it is an attempt to create different kinds of an atmosphere in the country.”
He accused the party of invoking democracy for political gains and alleged that it wanted to create instability rather than win elections and return to power.
Referring to countries where regime changes had taken place, Paswan claimed that foreign powers had supported such developments. He questioned whether the Congress wanted to create a similar situation in India.
“Does the Congress want to create a situation like Bangladesh, Nepal and France in India and set the country on fire?” he asked.
Paswan further claimed that the public was not supporting the Congress and accused it of trying to spread anarchy instead of winning elections.
Predicting the party's electoral prospects, he said, “Forget 2029, the Congress will not come to power even in 2034.”
LJP (RAM VILAS) TO CONTEST UP ASSEMBLY ELECTIONS
Paswan also announced his party's plans for the upcoming Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections, making it clear that the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) would contest the polls regardless of its alliance arrangements.
He said the party planned to organise a Nav Sankalp Sabha in Uttar Pradesh along the lines of the Nav Sankalp Yatra held in Bihar. The event is proposed to take place in the first week of November.
The party is also planning to celebrate its foundation day on a large scale in Lucknow this year, Paswan said.
Addressing the question of an alliance for the Uttar Pradesh elections, he said it remained to be seen whether the party would contest as part of an alliance. However, he made his party's position clear, saying, “Whether we remain in an alliance or not, time will tell, but the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) will definitely contest the elections in Uttar Pradesh.”
PASWAN THANKS BIHAR, UP GOVTs OVER RAM VILAS PASWAN HONOURS
Paswan also expressed gratitude to the Bihar and Uttar Pradesh governments for their decisions to honour his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan.
He thanked the Bihar government for announcing that his father's birth anniversary would be observed as a state function. He also expressed gratitude to the Bihar Chief Minister, Prime Minister and Union Home Minister over the decision.
Paswan further thanked the Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister for announcing a state function to mark Ram Vilas Paswan's death anniversary.
The Union Minister's remarks covered his criticism of the Congress, his party's plans for the Uttar Pradesh elections and the state honours announced in memory of his father.
