By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): A 24 year old deliveryman of San Juan Alley, Orange Walk Town, has been charged with possession of controlled drugs with intent to supply.
He is Xavier Roque Burgess.
Police say a joint team from GI3, Special Branch, CIB, the Mobile Interdiction Unit and the Special Patrol Unit searched several apartments on Baeza Alley around 4:45pm on Saturday, October 10, looking for illegal firearms and ammunition.
Nothing incriminating was found, but four men were detained pending investigation for being members of a gang and were taken to the Orange Walk Police Station.
While processing paperwork at the station, an officer noticed a small plastic bag on the floor about a foot from Burgess’ feet. Inside were eight small zip lock bags containing a white powder suspected to be cocaine.
When officers asked who the bag belonged to, Burgess allegedly said, “Da fi me boss,” meaning it was his.
The drugs weighed 2.3 grams. Burgess was formally charged on Saturday.
