RIYADH – A Pakistani national was among two people injured when falling debris from an intercepted drone killed two others near Saudi Aramco’s Shaybah oil field on Wednesday morning, according to Saudi authorities.
Saudi Ministry of Energy said air defences brought down the drone as it attempted to target an Aramco facility at the oil field in the Eastern Province. A Filipino national and a Nepali national were killed by the falling shrapnel, while a Pakistani and an Indian sustained injuries.
Debris also triggered a fire in a contractor’s vehicle outside the facility, the Saudi state news agency reported. Oil field operations remained unaffected.
The ministry’s account did not identify who launched the drone.
