Lamar Jackson watched the Baltimore Ravens fall to the Cleveland Browns from the sideline last Sunday, and the loss dropped the team to 4-2. Baltimore now faces a pivotal AFC North home game against the Cincinnati Bengals this Sunday, and the status of its two-time MVP quarterback hangs over everything in Baltimore. Wednesday’s practice offered the first real clue about what comes next.
Lamar Jackson practice update brings hope and questions
Reporters saw no sign of Jackson when the media-open portion of Wednesday’s practice began. ESPN’s Adam Schefter was among the first to report it.
He posted Wednesday, “No sign of Ravens QB Lamar Jackson at the start of Wednesday’s practice.”

The absence mattered because Jackson had not practiced since he sprained his left ankle just before halftime of the 24-18 win over the Titans on Oct. 4. He has since missed six practices and two games.
Ravens coach Jesse Minter then gave a brighter update. “Lamar was actually able to get a little bit of limited work in today in preparation,” Minter told reporters.
The injury report later listed Jackson as limited with an ankle issue. Minter called the situation day-by-day, and Jackson’s Sunday status remains open.
Backup Tyler Huntley has kept Baltimore afloat in the meantime. He led the Ravens to a 30-23 overtime win at Atlanta in Week 5, but the team lost at Cleveland in Week 6, so it went 1-1 without its star.
The loss included a missed 49-yard field goal by kicker Tyler Loop early in the fourth quarter while Baltimore led 10-3.
However, Jackson’s availability is not the only roster storyline Baltimore is managing this week.
Lamar Jackson’s line gets a boost as Cam Jurgens joins the Ravens
Baltimore also made a notable move up front while Jackson recovered. The Ravens acquired center Cam Jurgens from the Philadelphia Eagles earlier this month, but concussion protocol kept him out of the next two games.
Jurgens was fully cleared for practice on Wednesday, which sets up a possible Ravens debut against Cincinnati. If Jackson returns, he will see a different line in front of him. The Ravens hope the new look brings steadier protection.
That matters for Jackson, who wins with both his arm and his legs, especially while he works back from injury. Baltimore also lost its spot atop the AFC North in Cleveland, so a smoother offense cannot come soon enough. Cincinnati will test that group quickly, since the Bengals arrive with nearly every player healthy.
Baltimore sits at 4-2 and needs its quarterback healthy for a tight division race. Cincinnati, at 3-2, arrives rested after the bye. Kickoff is Sunday at 1 p.m. in Baltimore, and Jackson’s Thursday and Friday practice reports will shape the final call.
