The use case integrated AI facial recognition in the identity verification process.
Ping An Digital Bank (PingAnDB) completed its “Anti-Fraud Strategy Platform” use case as part of the second cohort of Hong Kong’s Gen AI Sandbox.
Developed in partnership with OneConnect Financial Technology, the platform uses proprietary technology from the two companies and evaluated the platform’s accuracy in detecting deepfake technology.
It integrates AI facial recognition into the identity verification process and uses selfies in real time to flag suspected forged or manipulated faces.
Sandbox testing results demonstrated a detection accuracy of over 96%, said Ronald Iu, chief executive of PingAnDB.
“This project successfully validated GenAI’s potential in deepfake detection, providing deeper insights into how AI identifies forged or synthetic faces across various scenarios,” Iu said.
PingAnDB said that it will increase its investment in AI and deepen the application of AI in its daily operations such as for risk control and product innovation.
