The Dão wine region will celebrate the arrival of autumn with the second edition of The Mushroom Edit, a festival combining mushroom discovery, wine, gastronomy and music at the Taboadella wine estate on November 21.
Following its debut in 2025, the event returns with an expanded programme designed to showcase the region’s natural heritage, local produce and winemaking traditions.
Held at Taboadella, in Silvã de Cima, Sátão, the festival will take place around the estate’s distinctive winery, designed by architect Carlos Castanheira.
One of the highlights will be guided walks through the surrounding woodland, where mycologists will introduce participants to different mushroom species, explain their role in the forest ecosystem and explore the characteristics of edible varieties.
The Immersive Experience, running from 2.30pm to 4.30pm, will offer three different woodland routes, with places limited to ensure a more personal experience.
More than 100 wines to discover
From 5pm to 9.30pm, the festival’s main programme will bring together around 20 wine producers, more than 100 wines and three guest chefs, whose names will be announced shortly.
Visitors will be able to sample regional wines, discover local food products and enjoy culinary creations, alongside live entertainment and DJ sets.
Two additional wine tastings will offer a closer look at the Dão’s winemaking traditions.
‘Vertical Encruzado Taboadella’ will focus on the region’s celebrated white grape variety, while ‘The Dão Among the Great Cool Climates’ will explore the characteristics of wines produced in cooler growing regions.
The festival will also introduce a new conference, Beiras Vivas, bringing together national and international forestry specialists to discuss prevention, regeneration and the sustainable management of the region’s natural landscape. The conference will take place earlier in the day and will not be open to the public.
