President Bola Tinubu has called on Nigerians to turn out massively come January 16, 2027, to re-elect him as president.
TheNewsGuru (TNG) reports President Tinubu made the call on Saturday at the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) presidential campaign in Kaduna State.
“Do you have your pvc? Do you have your pvc? Show your hands. Your hands up. This is not a matter of anger. Our opponents are angry because they are failures.
“They have nothing to offer you but heckling. We have prosperity, consistency, growth, recovery and opportunity. I assure you. Thank you for this massive showing up.
“There is a promise. Come January 2027, January 16, you must go out massively to elect me again. APC all the way. APC for our governors. APC for our senators. APC for our honourable house of representatives and all houses of assembly.
“Your prosperity is here. (2:02) Your future is in your hands. The fingerprint will reflect it,” Tinubu said.
TNG reports the President thanked Nigerians for electing him in 2023, saying a renewed mandate would enable his administration to sustain ongoing reforms and development projects.
Tinubu blamed previous administrations for the hunger and poverty criticised by opposition parties, saying his government was working to address the challenges.
He cited regular salary payments, economic recovery and efforts to combat corruption and fuel smuggling as areas of his administration’s commitment.
Tinubu urged eligible voters to obtain their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) and participate in the 2027 general election.
“Be careful. Watch them. Don’t let them lie to you. What is past is the past. First subsidy is in our past. No more corruption. No more falsification of invoices. No more lies. No more smuggling.
“May you grant me the privilege to promise you once again that promise of a better tomorrow. I salute all our governors.
“Today, out of 36 of them, I can see the developments they are making in their various states. They are paying salaries regularly. Our party leaders thank you very much,” he said.
Speaking the APC presidential campaign flag off, Vice President Kashim Shettima stressed that the Tinubu administration has fulfilled its 2023 campaign promises.
“What we have done is to fight for the survival of this nation. So allow me, Your Excellencies, distinguished ladies and gentlemen, to reintroduce ourselves to you, and to show you that you do not have allies as sincere as we are.
“We have been able to keep this country together and defy the predictions of those who forecasted the implosion of our economy simply because we work together.
“Almost four years ago, you spoke eloquently, sincerely, boldly, and decisively to elect a change-maker, His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, as President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
“We didn’t win the 2023 election because we were wise; far from it. We didn’t win because we were rich, nor did we win because we were the most educated or the best speakers. We won because you saw the options before you and knew, without a doubt, that the alternative was a calamity,” Shettima said.
Speaking further, he said: “For the good people of Kaduna State, we have seen why you stood tall to renew the mandate of the APC, to give His Excellency, Governor Uba Sani, the mandate to redeem the fortunes of this great state.
“This wisdom has made Kaduna State a unified place; a place where a man from Zonkwa sees a man from Zaria as a brother. It is a place where the dividends of democracy are felt just as strongly in Kachia as they are in Metropolitan Kaduna.
“This is the legacy of the APC in Kaduna State, and this is why we have come to ask you to renew the mandate a second time for the APC, from top to bottom.
“We have the courage to come to Kaduna today because we have kept our promise never to let you down. First and foremost, we promised to restore Kaduna State’s glory as the nation’s center of learning.
“Haven’t we delivered on that? We brought you the Federal University of Applied Sciences in Kachia, haven’t we? We carried forward the transition of the Federal College of Education in Zaria, haven’t we? We have established state vocational institutes in Rigachukun, Soba, and Samaru Kataf, producing over 4,000 graduates.
“To top it all off, we rolled out education funding through NELFUND for hundreds of thousands of students in your universities—haven’t we? Truly, the APC is the party to do business with.
“And for my brothers in the North, I have a simple message for you: we have built a consistent record of completing projects initiated by our predecessors. This is why we have registered substantial progress on the Ajaokuta–Kaduna–Kano gas pipeline, the Kano–Maradi railway, the Lagos–Kano rail corridor, and the Abuja–Kaduna–Kano road. We are also advancing work on the Sokoto–Badagry highway, which will open up a vista of opportunities for agricultural production across this country.
“Finally, I want us to bear this in mind and look back at the past: President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is a leader who has fiercely identified with the North over the years”.
