Send App by Flutterwave has announced its headline sponsorship of the EbonyLife Place London launch, alongside a broader partnership naming Flutterwave as EbonyLife’s exclusive payments partner.
The collaboration brings Flutterwave’s payment technology into the venue’s operations, supporting electronic payments across cinema ticketing, restaurants, retail and other venue transactions. It connects a new international platform for African creativity with the financial infrastructure needed to serve customers and grow commercially.
Founded by media entrepreneur Mo Abudu and located at 208 Wandsworth Road, EbonyLife Place London brings African film, food, fashion, art and music together under one roof. The launch takes place on 8 October, ahead of a public grand opening weekend from 9 to 11 October.
For Flutterwave, the partnership creates a practical connection between its support for Africa’s creative economy and the businesses bringing that creativity to global audiences.
From purchasing a cinema ticket to dining or shopping, payments are an essential part of turning cultural interest into revenue for creative enterprises.
Send App, Flutterwave’s remittance product, will bring a complementary diaspora focus to the collaboration, helping Africans abroad send money to family and loved ones back home. The partnership also provides opportunities for Send App community events, masterclasses and activations at EbonyLife Place, alongside film premieres, founder dinners and industry roundtables.
Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave, said: “African creativity is reaching audiences around the world. Our responsibility is to help the businesses behind it turn that reach into growth. Mo Abudu has built platforms that put African stories on the global stage, and EbonyLife Place London takes that ambition into a new space.
“As its exclusive payments partner, we will support the transactions that keep the venue moving. Through Send App, we will also connect with the diaspora community whose support helps African families, businesses and ideas thrive,” Agboola added.
Mo Abudu, Founder and CEO of EbonyLife Group, said: “EbonyLife Place London is about creating a new home for African and Black culture in London – bringing together film, food, fashion, art and music under one roof, and demonstrating the extraordinary soft power of our culture on the global stage.
“We’re delighted to have Send App by Flutterwave as our headline sponsor and Flutterwave as our exclusive payments partner. I want to thank GB and the team for sharing our vision and recognising the importance of creating a space where African and Black creativity, culture and business can come together, thrive and reach new audiences.”
The opening weekend will feature film screenings, live music and venue tours. Visitors will also experience contemporary fashion and design at Zuri Retail, art at the Living Wall Gallery, dining at The Afrobeat Restaurant and drinks at Maaji Bar.
The collaboration builds on Flutterwave’s support for African creativity through partnerships with figures including Wizkid and Toke Makinwa, and support for the Tiwa Savage Music Foundation. With EbonyLife Place London, that commitment extends to the everyday commercial activity that helps African creative businesses establish themselves internationally.
