The 2026/27 Malta Guinness Women’s Premier League will kick off on Friday, October 23, with defending champions Ampem Darkoa Ladies beginning their title defence away to Northern Ladies at the Buipe Astro Turf.
The opening weekend will run until Sunday, October 25, with 20 clubs competing across the Northern and Southern Zones as the race for the league title begins.
Ampem Darkoa head into the new campaign after beating Hasaacas Ladies 2-1 in the decisive game of last season to secure the league title.
However, Hasaacas Ladies responded by winning the Women’s FA Cup and later defeating Ampem Darkoa 1-0 to lift the Champion of Champions trophy on October 16, setting the stage for another competitive season.
The Northern Zone fixtures begin on Friday, with Fosu Royal Ladies hosting Ashanti Ladies at the Ohene Ameyaw Park at 9:00 a.m., before Northern Ladies take on Ampem Darkoa at 3:00 p.m.
On Sunday, Dormaa Candy Soccer will face Dreamz Ladies at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park, while Tamale Super Ladies host Prisons Ladies at the Yendi Youth Resource Centre.
Supreme Ladies will also welcome FC Savannah at the Bantama Astro Turf. All three matches are scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
In the Southern Zone, Immigration Ladies will open their campaign against Ladystrikers at the La McDan Town Park on Saturday at 10:00 a.m.
The other Saturday fixtures will see Rootz Sistaz host Hearts of Oak Ladies at the Senchi Methodist Astro Turf, Army Ladies take on Hasaacas Ladies at the El-Wak Stadium, and Jonina Ladies face Police Ladies at the Antie Aku Astro Turf. All three matches kick off at 3:00 p.m.
The zone’s final opening-weekend fixture will take place on Sunday, with FC Samartex Ladies hosting Epiphany Warriors at the Nsenkyire Sports Arena at 3:00 p.m.
The Women’s Premier League, launched in 2012, has grown into Ghana’s leading domestic competition for women’s football, with clubs divided into two zones.
With Ampem Darkoa aiming to retain their crown and Hasaacas Ladies looking to build on their recent cup success, the opening round offers an early look at the teams hoping to challenge for honours in the 2026/27 season.
