The Lahore High Court summoned the Punjab Interior Secretary and Jail Superintendent in their personal capacities regarding a recovery petition for Imran Khan’s sisters. Justice Abher Gul Khan presided over the court hearing concerning the alleged unlawful detention of the PTI founder’s sisters. During proceedings, the petitioner’s legal team requested the court to order the immediate production of the detained family members. However, judges noted procedural details regarding named respondents before issuing formal attendance directives to relevant provincial administrative authorities. Consequently, the high court ordered both senior officials to appear personally in court on October 28.

During the courtroom session, Uzma Khan’s husband Ahad Khan requested the bench to summon the Deputy Commissioner of Lahore directly. Justice Abher Gul responded by questioning why the defense counsel had not formally named the deputy commissioner as a respondent. The petitioner’s lawyer explained that detention orders issued by the deputy commissioner had already expired on October 19 and 20. Legal counsel argued that since the initial detention notifications lapsed naturally, naming the official as a party was unnecessary. Therefore, the legal defense maintains that the continued detention of the sisters lacks any valid legal or administrative foundation.
The legal recovery petitions claim that the continued custody of Imran Khan’s sisters violates fundamental rights and constitutional provisions. Defense attorneys urged the judicial bench to declare the ongoing detention illegal and order their immediate release from custody. Meanwhile, provincial government representatives face mounting judicial scrutiny over procedural delays and detention enforcement protocols across Punjab facilities. The high court’s decision to summon senior administrative leadership highlights growing judicial focus on executive detention orders. Consequently, provincial officials must present legal justification for the ongoing detention during upcoming scheduled court sessions.
Political supporters and legal observers continue tracking judicial developments closely amid ongoing legal battles involving PTI leadership and family members. Opposition leaders argue that administrative detention orders are frequently misused to silence political dissent across the country. Conversely, government authorities maintain that detention notifications are issued strictly according to established legal frameworks and public order regulations. The upcoming high court hearing will test administrative justifications regarding whether law enforcement followed proper procedures after initial detention orders expired. Therefore, the bench expects complete official records regarding the sisters’ current legal status during next week’s proceedings.

The outcome of the October 28 hearing could set an important legal precedent for administrative detention procedures in Punjab. Both the Punjab Interior Secretary and the Jail Superintendent must submit detailed formal responses explaining their administrative actions. Meanwhile, defense lawyers remain optimistic that the high court will uphold constitutional protections regarding personal liberty and fair process. Citizens and legal analysts await further courtroom updates as the Lahore High Court continues evaluating the constitutional petition. Ultimately, the judiciary remains a central arena for resolving complex disputes between citizens and executive state authorities.
