The Green Bay Packers’ defense hasn’t had Micah Parsons on the field this season. However, it found another way to shut the door on Sunday night. The Packers beat the Dallas Cowboys 23-13 at Lambeau Field, holding Dak Prescott to 34-of-54 passing for 258 yards with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Notably, it was the third straight game Green Bay has held an opponent to 14 points or fewer, a feat that prompted former Packers QB Kurt Benkert to highlight Green Bay’s defense on X.
Kurt Benkert, NFL Fans Hail Packers’ ‘Schematic’ Defense After Week 6 Win vs. Cowboys
Benkert focused on how the Packers were doing great teamwork on defense.
He wrote that seeing the defense “schematically causing problems for high-powered offenses” has him “really excited for what December and January football can look like for them.”
The Packers’ defense streak started with a 17-14 win at Tampa Bay on Oct. 4 against Jalon Daniels. Next came a 31-7 win over Chicago and quarterbacks Case Keenum and Tyson Bagent on Oct. 11, when Green Bay forced five turnovers and Xavier McKinney picked off two passes. On Sunday, Prescott, CeeDee Lamb and George Pickens came to town.
The trouble started early for Dallas. In the second quarter, Evan Williams stepped in front of a Prescott pass in the red zone for his second interception in three games.
He has a season grade of 90.7 through Week 6 in PFN’s NFL Safety Impact Grade, 5th of 87 graded safeties (his Impact Grade for the full 2025 season was 77). Right after the two-minute warning, Lamb slipped on the turf, and Brandon Cisse picked off the throw meant for him, Cisse’s first career interception. Green Bay led 17-0 at halftime.
Javonte Williams’ 1-yard touchdown run cut the lead to 17-7 in the third quarter, and Jonathan Gannon’s defense kept dialing up pressure. Dallas finished with 303 total yards, just 48 on the ground.

Over the three games, the Packers have allowed 34 points and forced nine turnovers. Demovsky put the stretch in historical terms after the game, noting it is the Packers’ “longest streak since 2016.”
USA Today Network Packers beat writer Ryan Wood also highlighted that the defense survived “two woeful roughing penalties and still does not give in.”
Meanwhile, fans replying under Benkert’s post looked ahead to how good this defense could get. One fan needed only four words: “This team with Micah…”
Another fan wrote, “I think they are one player away right now,” hinting at Parsons, who is recovering from a torn ACL and meniscus.
During the rivalry game, Jordan Love went 23 of 41 for 276 yards and had three potential touchdown passes dropped, two by Matthew Golden and one by Christian Watson. Golden still finished with six catches for 104 yards and a 9-yard touchdown.
Green Bay is now 4-2 and second in the NFC North after its third straight win. Their defense, of course, deserves ample credit for this turnaround.
