PalmPay has urged customers to verify its official customer support channels before seeking assistance, warning that fraudsters are impersonating customer service representatives to steal sensitive information and deceive users.
The digital payments company said impersonation scams could occur through phone calls and messaging platforms, where fraudsters pose as financial institution representatives to offer fake rewards, promise refunds or claim to need account details to resolve complaints.
The advisory, issued following the recent Customer Service Week, highlights security precautions customers should take when resolving transaction disputes, accessing their accounts and seeking assistance with other service-related issues.
PalmPay warned customers against disclosing one-time passwords (OTPs), personal identification numbers (PINs), passwords and verification codes to anyone.
It also advised users to avoid clicking suspicious links or authorising transactions in response to unverified requests.
The company urged merchants to confirm payments through their official transaction records before releasing goods or services, rather than relying solely on screenshots or messages presented as proof of payment.
Customers who notice unfamiliar transactions, suspect fraudulent activity or experience account-related issues were advised to contact PalmPay through its official customer support channels.
The company also encouraged users to verify the authenticity of social media accounts and other communications before responding to requests for personal or financial information.
As part of its security guidance, PalmPay asked customers to familiarise themselves with the security features available in the app’s Security Center, keep their account credentials confidential and report suspicious activities promptly.
It further advised customers to independently verify requests involving sensitive information or account actions before proceeding.
The advisory forms part of PalmPay’s ongoing ‘PalmPay Dey For You’ campaign, which includes customer education initiatives focused on fraud prevention and safer digital financial transactions.
