Sahara Ray's heartbroken Australian sister breaks her silence about model's tragic death aged 34 from an overdose

Sahara Ray's sister Ruby has shared a heartbreaking tribute to her, following her tragic death on Friday from an overdose at the age of 34.

The Australian-American swimsuit model's younger sister Ruby shared the tribute on social media on Tuesday, posting some precious throwback photos of herself and Sahara in happier times.

'My beautiful big sister, Sahara. The most vivacious, intelligent, hilarious, kind, empathetic and breathtakingly beautiful soul. A force of nature. A light so bright that this world feels impossibly dimmer without her in it,' Ruby wrote in the caption.

'Sahara has moved from this life into another, and I am left trying to comprehend how someone so full of life can no longer be here to live it.'

Ruby said she had looked up to Sahara her whole life and now felt completely empty without her.

'From the moment I entered this world, I looked up to her. In my eyes, she was everything extraordinary about being human,' she wrote.

'She was magic, warmth, laughter, love. She was, to me, the most incredible person to ever walk this earth.

'How cruel it is to love someone so deeply and have nowhere for that love to go. To have a lifetime of memories behind you, but no more tomorrows together.

'I don't think there are words in any language capable of holding the weight of this heartbreak. I don't know how to make sense of a world that keeps turning when mine feels as though it has stopped.

'God, grief hurts. It is the most excruciating, all-consuming pain I have ever been doused in. A pain that reaches into the deepest parts of your soul, into places you never knew existed, leaves an emptiness that no words could ever begin to describe.'

Ruby concluded her post by expressing that she would never stop loving Sahara as long as she lived.

'And beneath all this grief, this disbelief, this unbearable heartache, is the simplest, most devastating truth. I just want my big sister. I want more time. More laughter. More conversations. More of her,' she wrote.

'If love alone could have kept you here, Sahara, you would have lived a thousand lifetimes. I will spend the rest of mine loving you.'

The model died from a fentanyl overdose just months after she became a first-time mother, to baby daughter Snow.

Sahara overdosed on the deadly opioid Friday night and was rushed to a Los Angeles area hospital, a source close to the model told the Daily Mail.

She last communicated with her fans back in July when she uploaded photos of her little girl to Instagram.

'My whole heart [white love heart emoji]. Baby Snow,' the bikini designer wrote next to the sweet images.

Sahara announced the arrival of Snow in January, sharing photos of her bundle of joy, though she never revealed the identity of her child's father.

On Monday, Sahara's family confirmed to TMZ that the new mother had died.

'She passed away last night surrounded by family at the hospital. She was so loved,' her family said.

Sahara, the daughter of big wave surfer Tony Ray, first made headlines in August 2016 when she was rumoured to have dated Justin Bieber, after they were famously caught by paparazzi enjoying a skinny dipping session.

She was also previously romantically linked to male supermodel Jordan Barrett and Aussie singer Cody Simpson.
