On Saturday, Penélope Cruz appeared on the red carpet at the BFI London Film Festival dressed in a floral-patterned Chanel gown. The actress was attending an event celebrating her upcoming film, “Bunker,” a psychological thriller directed by Florian Zeller that has been warmly received by critics in the festival circuit so far.
Cruz was fitted in a custom Chanel gown made from Chantilly lace in a soft butter yellow shade. The dress was embellished with asymmetrically placed embroidered cotton flowers in tones of white, pink, red, and a slightly deeper yellow. Placed somewhat sporadically throughout the lower half of Cruz’s dress, the flowers clustered near the neckline and went on to completely cover the straps.
The light shades and overall delicate look paired well with Cruz’s minimal makeup. This included a soft pink, nearly neutral shade of lipstick with a tint similar to hues found throughout her dress. At the bottom of the gown, Cruz’s red painted toenails stuck out from her sandals.
Cruz is a well-known Chanel aficionado. She has been a Brand Ambassador for Chanel since 2018 and is frequently seen wearing the brand out and about at events. Last May at the Cannes Film Festival, Cruz sported Chanel’s contemporary elegance, wearing a black gown with an asymmetrical cut and tufts of black fabric on the shoulder and right thigh. At a SAG-AFTRA Foundation conversation in June, Cruz showed up completely decked out in Chanel, wearing a Look 62 navy suit paired with black and white Mary Janes.
Cruz’s new film “Bunker” has already been met with critical acclaim. When it premiered at the Venice International Film Festival in September, it won a Golden Lion award and received a standing ovation from audience members. Cruz plays the wife of an architect who is tasked with building a bunker for an eccentric millionaire, a job that puts their marriage to the test. “Bunker” is set to premiere in theaters nationwide on January 15, 2027.
