Newly promoted North East First Division (NEFD) side Bush Bucks FC continued their impressive pre-season form over the weekend, recording a convincing 3-0 victory over local club Sparks Sparkling FC at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex on Sunday.
The win capped an unbeaten weekend for Bush Bucks, who secured two wins from two matches and scored six goals without conceding.
On Saturday, the club defeated Real Cheetah FC 3-0, courtesy of a hat-trick from new signing Santos Sibolile. The 22-year-old recently joined the club from Shooting Stars.
Sibolile has emerged as a key player during the club’s pre-season preparations, scoring five goals in his first two appearances.
He continued his impressive form on Sunday, scoring twice to help his side secure another convincing victory.
Left winger Masule Liseli added the third goal in the 33rd minute, sealing a comfortable first-half lead for the hosts.
The weekend’s victories boosted head coach Budstyn Mutau’s confidence ahead of the upcoming season.
Mutau’s youthful side secured promotion after an impressive campaign that saw them crowned champions of the 2025/26 Namport Zambezi Regional Second Division League.
They then earned promotion to the NEFD after a competitive play-off campaign at the Katima Mulilo Sports Complex in July.
Despite the convincing victories, Mutau remains cautious about the challenges awaiting his side in the higher division.
“Bush Bucks’ future is bright, and we are ready for new competitors in the top tier. The road will not be an easy one, but we are ready,” Mutau said on Sunday.
The club has also tested its readiness during pre-season preparations by hosting Namibia Premiership sides, including Eeshoke Chula Chula FC, to assess its competitiveness against higher-level opposition.
