Nashville punks Winona Fighter have announced their sophomore album, Brutal & Extremely Underrated, set for release on January 22nd, 2027, via Rise Records. They’ve also confirmed a US headlining tour and released the second single, “LEECH.” Stream it below.
Brutal & Extremely Underrated marks the CoSign alums’ follow-up to their excellent debut, My Apologies to the Chef. The upcoming album shifts in focus from looking inward to directly addressing and reacting to the “unignorable state of the world,” according to a press release.
“On this record I think we as a band gelled more than we ever have and made space for each other while still elevating each song,” guitarist Dan Fuson shared in a statement. Frontwoman Coco Kinnon added, “I especially love that we get to give our fans and new listeners something real in a world of slop.”
Winona Fighter’s 2027 US tour kicks off on January 21st in Bentonville, Arkansas, with subsequent stops in cities including Austin, Los Angeles, Chicago, Toronto, and New York.
Tickets will first be available on Thursday, October 15th at 10:00 a.m. local time through an artist pre-sale, followed by a free Live Nation pre-sale the same day at 12:00 p.m. local time. The general on-sale is slated for Friday, October 16th at 10:00 a.m. local time via Ticketmaster and Winona Fighter’s website.
The moody “LEECH” was written after Kinnon read online comments about their first record. Describing her reaction to the negativity, she sings, “Lately lately I’ve been thinkin lately/ Everything is starting to change/ Hate me hate me everybody hates me/ Thinkin that my head is to blame.” Watch the accompanying video below.
