The Zambian Premier League (ZPL) has suspended all midweek matches under its umbrella scheduled between Monday, 12th October and Friday, 16th October 2026 for reasons yet to be disclosed.
The suspension affects key fixtures, including the Stream A top-of-the-table clash between leaders Nkana and NAPSA Stars which was scheduled for Wednesday, 14th October 2026.
In Memo 115 of the 2026 Transition Season dated 11th October 2026, the League announced the immediate suspension of all midweek league matches covering competitions from Monday to Friday until further notice.
ZPL Chief Executive Officer Joseph Chimpampwe said new dates will be assigned to the suspended matches.
“With immediate effect, all midweek matches (Monday to Friday) in the MTN Super League, the Women’s Super-Division, the Men’s National Division and the Women’s National Division are suspended until further notice. This includes rescheduled and postponed matches allocated to midweek dates,” Chimpampwe stated.
Chimpampwe warned clubs against making independent arrangements to play the affected fixtures.
“Suspended matches will be rescheduled to dates to be announced by the League. Clubs must not make their own arrangements to play any suspended fixture. Clubs must immediately inform their players, officials, supporters and service providers,” he said.
Meanwhile, league matches scheduled for the weekend of 17–18 October 2026 remain unaffected and will proceed as planned, although clubs have been advised to remain on standby for further developments.
“Matches scheduled for the weekend of 17th to 18th October 2026 are not affected and will be played as scheduled. All clubs must, however, remain on standby for further developments,” Chimpampwe added.
