Petros Kousoulos has sparked fresh debate after claiming that popular Greek singer Giorgos Mazonakis died poor, with people in his close circle allegedly benefiting from his earnings.
What Kousoulos Said About Mazonakis’s Money
Responding on X to a user who asked what happened to the money Mazonakis earned during his successful career, Kousoulos wrote: “His ‘mates’ and the good environment that surrounded him were eating it.”
The comment followed earlier remarks on his television programme in which he stated that Mazonakis had died poor and that a businessman had paid for the heating oil at his home.
Circumstances of Giorgos Mazonakis’s Death
Giorgos Mazonakis died on 9 September 2026 after suffering a cardiac arrest during a visit to a private clinic in Kolonaki. His death was confirmed at Elpis Hospital. The circumstances of the incident were investigated.
Family Dispute and Inheritance Questions
The singer’s financial situation had already been in the public eye. Since 2024 he had been involved in a dispute with his sister, Vaso Mazonaki, over company activities and property, including a home in Mykonos.
Reports after his death indicated that no will was found. This has intensified questions about the true size of his estate and how any remaining assets should be handled.
Kousoulos’s statements direct attention toward individuals who were close to the artist. These remain allegations and have not been supported by evidence in the original post.
