Kelly Clarkson is feuding with a local Brooklyn magic shop over a $15,000 animatronic bird named Molly, and we’ve come to the inevitable phase of the saga where sources are spilling.
First, an insider told People that “She’s usually very private and public drama like this isn’t her. She’s clearly so ticked off that she couldn’t keep quiet about it. Everyone is surprised by how much this whole thing has escalated.” And then, another insider told Page Six that “If she’s actually calling out a store publicly, she must’ve been livid. You know something must have really bothered her because that’s just not who she is. Kelly is seriously one of the most down to earth people you could ever meet. She’s usually chill and genuinely one of the nicest people ever.”
Cut to the Daily Mail who spoke to an anonymous person who claimed Kelly simply isn’t used to New York City, saying in part, “She has a really hard time with how New Yorkers are. She is getting sick of it. A lot of people in New York don’t recognize her and don't treat her that nicely, probably because she usually has no makeup on and a big hat. They judge her and she knows it.”
They added, “People definitely whispered about her when she was here. It was like Miranda Priestly walking into Runway, except she would walk in without her glam and then have her helpers make her all dolled up so she was on-air ready… Of course, it was part of her hosting gig, but she took it to another level. Kelly is used to super-friendly people from the South, people who are helpful and kind and say ‘have a nice day,’ but we all know New Yorkers are not like that. They can be nasty.”
Read the whole saga of Kelly vs. Art of Play this way, but things kicked off when Kelly tweeted “Just drove all the way to Brooklyn to check out this store I thought looked really rad and had a few things in mind to buy and literally was looked at as if I couldn’t afford it and was told he could find something comparable for me. Wow, dude. You’re an idiot and just lost a huge sale. But y’all should go check out Art of Play in Brooklyn if you enjoy being treated like Julia Roberts character in Pretty Woman. For sure, check it out.”
