Richard Ernest Kirk-Mensah, the incumbent Western Regional Communications Officer of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), is appealing to party delegates to retain him in office, citing his experience and commitment to strengthening communication, party unity and grassroots mobilisation.
Mr Kirk-Mensah says a renewed mandate would enable him to consolidate his work in party communication, deepen engagement with members and enhance the NDC's organisational effectiveness across the Western Region.
Highlighting his contribution to the party's electoral performance, he noted that the NDC secured 15 of the 17 parliamentary seats in the Western Region in the previous elections, a feat he attributes to collective efforts, including communication and mobilisation.
His re-election campaign is anchored on the slogan "Communicate. Engage. Mobilize," which outlines his vision for improving information flow, strengthening internal engagement and building a more connected party structure.
Mr Kirk-Mensah believes effective communication is essential to the strength and cohesion of any political organisation, particularly in connecting party leadership with constituency executives, grassroots members and supporters.
He is advocating stronger communication channels to ensure that the party's activities, policies and messages reach members at all levels in a timely and effective manner.
He also emphasises the importance of listening to members, encouraging participation and promoting continuous interaction between leadership and the grassroots.
According to his campaign message, improved communication should go beyond information dissemination to foster understanding, strengthen relationships within the party and encourage collective responsibility.
Party unity and grassroots mobilisation are central to Mr Kirk-Mensah's bid to retain the position.
He maintains that well-informed and actively engaged members are better positioned to work together towards common objectives and contribute to the party's organisational development.
His proposed approach seeks to strengthen collaboration among regional leadership, constituency executives and grassroots structures while building a shared sense of purpose across the Western Region.
Under the theme "A Greater Western Region," he also seeks to link effective party organisation with the broader aspirations of communities across the region.
He believes a more coordinated communication strategy will help the NDC sustain engagement with the people it seeks to represent and strengthen its connection with communities.
The three pillars of his campaign are clear: Communicate by improving information flow; Engage by deepening interaction and participation; and Mobilize by bringing members together to advance the party's objectives.
For Mr Kirk-Mensah, these principles are interconnected, with effective communication expected to promote engagement and translate into collective action.
Mr Kirk-Mensah brings experience in public service, disaster management, corporate communication and entrepreneurship to his re-election bid.
He served as a Senior Officer with the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) in the Western Region from June 2013 to 2025 before his appointment as Head of Communications at the Ghana National Gas Company.
He has also been the Chief Executive Officer of Kirk-Komm Ventures since June 2006.
Academically, he holds a Master of Science (MSc) degree in Oil and Gas Management from the University of Cape Coast, obtained between 2015 and 2016.
He also holds an MSc in Crisis, Emergency and Disaster Management from the same university, completed between 2013 and 2015.
He is currently pursuing a master's degree in Strategic Public Relations at the University of Media, Arts and Communication.
He considers his professional and academic background relevant to strategic communication, stakeholder engagement and organisational coordination.
As the NDC prepares for its regional executive elections, Mr Kirk-Mensah is appealing to delegates to renew their confidence in his leadership and retain him as Western Regional Communications Officer.
He says his priorities for another term include strengthening communication structures, promoting party unity, deepening grassroots engagement and improving mobilisation across the region.
His campaign rests on the principle that an informed and actively engaged membership is essential to effective party organisation.
With the message "Communicate. Engage. Mobilize," Mr Kirk-Mensah is making his case to delegates for another mandate, with the stated aim of building a more united, connected and effectively mobilised NDC in the Western Region as part of his vision for a greater Western Region.
