Dhurandhar actress Sara Arjun made her runway debut as the showstopper for designer Anushree Reddy at Lakme Fashion Week, held in collaboration with the Fashion Design Council of India (FDCI).
On October 16, the designer unveiled her latest collection, “MAYA”, on the fourth day of the fashion gala at the Taj Palace hotel.
Sara took to the runway in a blue, off-the-shoulder mermaid gown adorned with intricate white floral embroidery. The lehenga-inspired ensemble featured a peplum silhouette and was complemented by minimal jewellery.
Speaking to PTI, Sara said that she initially wondered whether she was ready for the ramp walk when approached for the opportunity, but soon found herself excited about the experience.
“My first thought was, ‘Am I ready for this?’ And then I think I figured it out and realised that I am ready for this. And then it was just excitement,” she said.
“It is a different kind of high, walking on the ramp, being there, and Anushree kept telling me, ‘Sara, you will enjoy it.’ Because it was my first time, I didn’t know how I would feel until I was there, and I loved it. It felt like I belonged there in some way. It was very fun,” she further noted.
Reddy’s MAYA collection celebrated femininity, vibrant colours and traditional craftsmanship, with bridal couture featuring intricate zardozi, delicate threadwork, shimmering sequins and glass bead embellishments.
Lakme Fashion Week is scheduled to wrap up on October 18.
